Meals and Snacks

Snacks

We have snack through both morning and afternoon sessions. Snack time is a very important part of the curriculum when children can practice social conversation and listening skills, learn table manners, how to share and help others with the support of our team. Snack time also develops the children’s independent skills and they learn how to prepare their own snack e.g. buttering a piece of toast and they wash and dry their own plates. The children learn to spread, cut and use cutlery supporting their physical development and fine motor skills. This is also an opportunity to learn about turn taking, taking responsibility when it’s their turn to be the helper and making healthy food choices.

Snack varies each day but examples are toast, crumpets, crackers, cereal, bread sticks and dips. There is always a selection of fruit and milk or water.

Snack is funded by parent donations so please bring £1 per week for 15 hours and £2 for 30 hours to school on a Monday.

Example snacks offered to children include:

  • Fruit
  • Crackers
  • Toast
  • Milk
  • Water
Children who attend school for 30 hours will eat their lunch in school. Parents are invited to choose between purchasing a hot meal which is cooked onsite in the school kitchen or children are welcome to bring a packed lunch from home. There is a weekly menu which encourages healthy eating and the development of table manners available for hot dinners and all dietary requirements are catered for.
